The best you can do is cross your fingers and pray. I once shot a grey fox with a .243 100gr Power Point in the chest and had the bullet pencil through the entire body and exit beside the tail. No damage at all. On the flip side I once shot a coyote with a .223 55gr. FMJ in the chest and had the bullet, along with bone fragments explode out the top of his back between the shoulder blades, leaving a huge gruesome hole.

So much for my heavy bullet for fur theory. Wow! What bullet was that?
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

I could box up a dozen or so to use as patches on those Texas cats.

So much for my heavy bullet for fur theory. Wow! What bullet was that? 225 grain Sierra gameking, shot another one about a minute later and had to look to find the in and out holes! Shot another cat a week later with a 257 Weatherby and damage was moderate. Ronnie
