I am more of a flintlock person, but I saw this Cougar while looking for tools in a pawn shop and just had to buy it.
I first went home and brought back the small light that can be dropped down the barrel. The barrel was rust and pit free, but dirty. A good cleaning at home and lubing of the lock and it was almost perfect.





I would much prefer a patch box to the Cougar disk in the stock, but I am not going to change it.
I am off to the range to give it a workout.

Very nice! Best looking ML T/C made IMO. The matte stainless really sets it off, kinda like German silver or French grey. T/C used to come up with some really nice walnut. Congrats!

Initially, I wasn't going to post this, thinking that it is like the little boy saying, boastfully, "look what I have." But I just wanted to share my good fortune.
It really was quite by chance as I was looking around town for a Lyman Great Plains rifle.
Frankly, I am more of a flintlock shooter, but this was too good to pass up.
The traditional muzzleloader loader bug has bitten me hard. I have sold off several cartridge guns to feed my new-found habit.
My cartridge long guns sit lonely and forlorn in the safe as I go out and get my hands dirty with this black powder compulsion.
