Let your dogs run and they become the hunted. Don't see a problem here.

On the up side, if they knock off all the dogs they might start putting a dent on all the Obama voters in Wisconsin.

I carry a .45 when I walk my dog on trails. Might be what wolves do, i.e. eliminate other predators, BUT this isn't another predator, it's MY lab. I pay taxes in my county, not the wolves.

I have been logging and deer hunting in northern WI over 40 years. Some observations since we have had the wolves return, the greater the distance you are from town the fewer deer, if you are in heavy timber more than 5 deer in that area will draw wolves. Last year was the first wolf season here, prior to then you could holler at them clap your hands blow the truck horn with little reaction from them. A few years ago my cousin Ed used a golf club to get a wolf off his dog in his yard at his farm. The coyotes seem to have adjusted to the presence of wolves. They are more plentiful again. (they might be the most intelligent animal around here) I believe we have seen the last of good deer hunting here. On the positive side there is less browsing of trees by deer. We had a hard winter last year, forcast is for the worst deer season in over 30 years.

Let your dogs run and they become the hunted. Don't see a problem here. Wolves don't mind coming in your yard to do so... That's a problem in my books.

dog predation Looks like every dog on this list is a hunting dog more than likely NOT a dog that was just roaming free.

Problem is that the bear hunters run their dogs wherever they feel like it. If they're on your private property they could give a sheet

Last nites news here in N. MN advised people in lake county to mind their pets as wolves have killed several in the last week.
The wolves are coming into town for doggy snacks, mighty strange for this to happen in summer, it usually happens in winter.
Never tell your problems to anyone. 20% don't care and 80% are glad you have em.

I don't think they're going in anyone's back yard. 99% of the dogs killed are hounds, and any houndsman with an IQ higher than a piss ant's knows the risk of starting a track in Wolf country.
Funny thing is,,,, there was a recent thread celebrating the fact that WI is now allowing Wolf hunting with dogs. When I asked how they go about it without getting their hounds killed like the guys around here do I was told that they only run "select" members and separate them from the rest of the pack so the hounds can bay em.
Sounds like that ain't working out so well.
BTW,,,, with a camera in every pocket in America these days,,, I'd love to see a some pix of one of those races.

The dogs in Wisco that are killed by wolves get the owner compensated by the DNR. Good way to "sell" a worthless hound is to take it on a bear hunt in wolf country.
