The only FMJ ammo I've ever shot was thru an M-16 about 50 years ago thru an M-16 and didn't like the rifle or the ammo.

Would you shoot as a practice load thru a factory barrel? Or a custom barrel? I haven't nor do I plan to but several "range friends" do and it seems to shoot about as well as the commercial soft-ammo I see them shoot.

Personally I would shoot lead core/gilding metal military FMJ through a good barrel without concern, but I would avoid steel core or steel jacketed bullets and tracers.

Shot it in Boots,Krieger,Hart,Rock,Douglas,PN,Shilen,yada,yada.

A barrel that would get "hurt" by shooting it,would get tossed off a cliff ASAP.

Hint..................

Hell, I shot some steel jacketed stuff through a rough as a cob factory LTR barrel and it smoothed that sumbitch up! After 40 or so steel jacketeds it slowed way down on copper fouling with regular bullets.

Barrels are cheap consumables.

Happiness is walking through them...............
