Years ago ,I used a borrow one of these to kill a great white-tail and one of the biggest hogs I ever shot. I was just wondering if anyone out there hunts with one of these guns and what you hunt with it and how you like it.

Thanks

I haven't, but judging by the score of years Savage made the 325/340 series there must have been plenty of guys who did. Don't know if any are on this forum though. I say if you like the 325 then go for it! The 325/340 rifles are not hard to find and, true to their design goal, remain affordable.

Let me know if you are interested in an early 340 with walnut stock, docken dorf rear sight and may have a peep for it. All original, no extra holes. It in .30-30 and true to their design ---very accurate with factory ammo.

I've got both the 325,and the 340(222),and I've killed a little bit of everything with the 340.I've killed groundhogs with it from the time I was kid,and shot many a turkey,as well as a few deer.I love it..The 325 was my Dads, and I never knew him to even shoot it.It was one of his Dads guns,so he never traded it off,but he was no fan of the 30-30.If I were you I'd go with a 340 over the 325 especially if you ever want to scope it.The 325 aint tapped, and they have that completely un-styled bolt.I have shot mine from my bench ,and it is pleasingly accurate .I plan on reaming it to 30-30 A.I.,It's really compact, and I think it would make a good gun to keep in the truck, with a loaded clip in the glovebox.
