The newest is a GSR in 223/556 with 8 twist tube at 16". Supposedly the mags allow long loading for the heavies. Not the prettiest pig to put lipstick on. May as we'll start from scratch and build a rifle for what they want retail for these.

I guess people either love or hate the Ruger GSR. I think they're pretty badass myself, though I don't own one.

I gotta say that rifle in a McMillan and irons could be pretty fun.

Maybe if the flash hider was changed out and a different shaped stock it would look better.

Will look bad ass with a suppressor.

And a McMillan.

Does that stupid ass rail come off easily?

I believe for a Ruger bolt gun I will stick with the RAR Predator. I don't have anything against a 16" barrel & having a coll. stock AR with a 16" is nice to have in the truck but for a bolt gun with a 1-8 & a mag for the heavies, I want a little more barrel for that function, at least 20". The issue I have with the RAR Predator is the Mag, but it appears that is being addressed. To each his own.

If they'd only made them to use AR magazines.

Yeah, I really think they dropped the ball in this aspect of it. Probably would sell a whole bunch more if they took p-mags.

Takes the long 75 & 80gr Amax out of the equation because of oal of the 15 mag.

When they get the predator mag figured out I will scoop one up.

You won't be able to utilize the full potential of the 8" twist if you used AR mags.

If they would accept a Ruger proprietary mag that allowed longer OAL as well as AR mags it'd be golden. If only one, I'll go with the longer OAL and smile all the way. If there is a big enough demand someone will make a custom bottom metal that accepts AR mags.

Should have used mini 14 mags. Now Ruger makes three or four 5.56 detachable mag guns all using different mags.

Yes, if it's the same as the 308s. I was looking at one the other day and thought that maybe I could make a rear sight work in the holes drilled for the rail.

One positive of the GRS is that the rail comes off and a scope can be mounted conventionally. I have no use for forward mounted scopes, a regular 1-4X would do everything better anyway.

I just can't pull the trigger on one, although it has potential.

These bottom metals are essentially AICS compatible, so a 223 mag with long COAL allowance is nothing new. The 223 AICS mags allow something like 2.55" COAL

Holy Moly, they're making them for Leftys! Wonder if Santa can fit one under the tree for my 7yo. Twisted correctly, adjustable lop, will look cool to him. Thoughts?

If that is the case, I retract my whining complain and start gathering up my pennies to buy one.
