Wife has a 2007 Tacoma crew cab. Nice truck rides and drives good, EXCEPT in a cross or quartering wind, then it is an absolute beiotch. You can't hardly keep the damn thing on the road, it whips and bucks bad. Wouldn't be a problem except we live in Kansas and well it's windy. Any of you guys have the same issue?

I've owned the same truck since 2007. I've driven across Kansas twice in each direction and had no issues. I don't see how it could be any worse than any other pickup, maybe better than most with a lower profile than most full size trucks.

I'd be looking at that front end. Sounds like somethings up.

My 2000 Tacoma Extra cab (15"wheels) is wind sensitive. Cross winds will have you correcting constantly. One time thought I might get pulled over by the police as I fought to stay in my lane.

How can any truck NOT be affected by high winds? Some will handle better than others, of course, but any strong outside force will move any truck around.

As was said, check the front end, as well as tires and tire pressure.

If wind can alter a golf ball a truck is game.

Check the front end and in particular the steering components. If you have any slop in steering and you have to cock the wheel to go in a straight line when the wind lets up you're over corrected and the truck will dart.
I'm planning on tightening up/adjusting the steering box and replacing the rag joint in my truck this week. It only has an 1 1/2" or less of slop and it steers fine under normal conditions but it's enough to cause problems in the wind.

Piece of cake... you ought to try driving a VW Camper across North Dakota, Montana, Manitoba, Saskatchewan.. its more like flying a kite...
although I've driven across Kansas multiple times, I have a lot more experience driving across Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas...
Strong winds, I just slow my 4 Runner down some...
had a head wind in No Dakota once, was blowing strong enough, it actually ripped both of my side mirrors right off the truck...auto parts store in Billings fixed me up with a new pair tho...
As said, you either have front end or tire issues ( slipped belts?)... or just try slowing down...

Weight and surface area seem to matter in wind. Lighter vehicles seem to fight against the wind more, especially if they have near the surface area of their heavier counterparts. A four-door tacoma has a fair bit of side surface area as compared to an F150, but weighs considerably less.
Now with even more aplomb

We have a 4WD 2005 Access cab which has the 6 1/2 foot bed with a cab-high camper shell (and 248,000 miles on the odometer). We also live in a pretty windy place, especially during the January to June period, but wind storms occur just about any time of year when the weather conditions are right. We bought this truck new and it has been to all of the western and Great Plains states except Washington and North Dakota. I can honestly say that it seems no more susceptible to crosswinds than any other vehicle that we have had. This group included full-size Ford, Chevrolet and GMC 4WD crew cab pickups, several of which had camper shells. If you really have to fight it, I think that there must be a problem with your front end steering/suspension components.
