Back in March I made a post asking for advice on a 260 Remington AR build. I decided on doing one to DPMS specs. Just learned that my 80% upper will be done in the next couple of weeks (6 months later). My question is about barrels. I am not able to buy the most expensive. I have been looking at Lilja. They seem to be the best for what I might be able to afford. Anybody have any experience with them. I know that years ago when I was doing more of this stuff they were top drawer. Hoping they are still there. They want about $500 for a 260 bbl. Any other suggestions for around this price?

From my Lilja .308 AR barrel: DSC_8965 by wareagle700, on Flickr DSC_7639 by wareagle700, on Flickr IMO, to get any better than Lilja would be luck of the draw.

Looks like i have my answer about them. Thanks. Has anybody heard good or bad about Harris Gunworks? I have a friend that might be looking for a 30 Remington AR barrel for a build he is doing and it looks like they would build one. The problem with them is I don't see any reviews to speak of, they use to build some military barrels but that seems to have stopped in the late 90's after only a couple of years. Nothing on any forums I have looked at but I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking.

Look into the Black Hole Weaponry AR10 barrels. Excellent accuracy with a huge amount of personal choices at a very reasonable price. They are even having a 20% off sale right now.

Has anybody heard good or bad about Harris Gunworks? There was a lot of stuff flying around about Harris a while ago. I personally won't use Harris...ever. Here's one man's account. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.guns/f0Io2TOsv_M

If you care to do more reading, here's the McMillan's account of things from the old usenet board. http://yarchive.net/gun/politics/mcmillan_family.html

Lilja is very much good to go. Used more than a dozen of his barrels. All have been excellent.
Don't know about harris.
