South African paralympian, Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of culpabale homicide.
Judge Thokozile Masipa delivered her verdict in the highly publicised trial that has been broadcast live across the world.
Pistorius was standing motionless as the Judge read the verdict.
Judge Masipa also said Pistorius cannot be found guilty of illegal possesion of ammunition.
"Evidential material before this court... shows that the accused acted negligently when he fired into the toilet door, knowing there was someone behind the door," Judge Masipa said.
"It cannot be said that the accused did not entertain a genuine belief that there was an intruder in the toilet who posed a threat to him..." The Judge added
Pistorius is accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his Pretoria townhouse on Valentine's Day, 2013.
He shot her through the locked door of his toilet, apparently thinking she was an intruder about to emerge and attack him. She was hit in the hip, arm and head.
On Thursday Judge Masipa acquitted Pistorius of murder in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
The State had argued that the murder was premeditated.
Judge Masipa said: "The State has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder."
The case continues with arguments in mitigation of sentencing will now take place and it is expected several witnesses will be called to testify.
