Sportsmans Warehouse was blowing out the Remington 783 today in .243, .270, .30-06, and 7mm RM for $199 in Colorado Springs. If they have any left the sale lasts the weekend for any interested, they were selling a lot of them today. As cheap as they were I still couldn't bring myself to buy one, to me they just handle and shoulder like a steaming heap of dog do do. That said it might be a good deal for a guy looking for a starter rifle to hunt with or get into shooting. I did however walk out with 2 lbs each of TAC and Mag Pro, and I got Wifey the Ruger LCR .357 mag she has been wanting for an anniversary present.

Saw that as well. Hard to believe they put so much effort into a $200 rifle and still f'ed up the triggers on everything else.

It makes me sick to see all the crap Remington tries to push on folks.Them 710s were a disgusting gun that I'm sure the original founders of Remington would be ashamed of,and these likely aint much better..It used to be that in America inexpensive wasn't necessarly the same as cheap ,take the 788 for example,.I had one in 22-250 that was a good gun, just not fancy.

it would be better to have $200, than a $200 piece of junk. it's like a $1,000 car ... you'd do better to set the $$ on fire.

I wouldn't bring one home for half that price. Better to spend another $150-$200 and get a decent rifle like the Ruger American or maybe a used whatever.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

I am not saying by any means that I want one, but at the range one day and a guy had one there shooting it. I saw the groups he was putting up at 200 yrds and it looked to be just a little over a MOA gun with factory loads.
I don't like them either but it was the first time I had seen one outside of a store. He may have had the best one Remington ever turned out, I don't know. Still not enough to make me buy one but I have seen a lot worse shooting rifles by more than one company.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Walmart has a camo 700 ADL scope combo right now for $297. Saw those last week and walked away as well. I'm not needing anything until I get caught up on a few projects. The move this year has me a little behind the curve.

It makes me sick to see all the crap Remington tries to push on folks. Ditto.. Them 710s were a disgusting gun that I'm sure the original founders of Remington would be ashamed of,and these likely aint much better. . Probably at a blowout price in order to get rid of that crap - never to be re-ordered.. I saw one at the local store couple months ago.. Remington's lost it, IMHO..

I'm sure that these guns are safe, and I guess they do satisfy a certain niche in the market, but they should have never been sold with the Remington name ,That may be why the 700s are now cheaper than they once were.Their reputation is damaged..A few years back in equal guns the Remington always commanded a higher price than a Savage, and now it's pretty close in new guns, although in used the 700adl still bring more than the 110.Savage 110s built their reputation as inexpensive, but preformed great, and when Remington tried to steal their thunder they built a gun that was inexpensive, but cheap feeling.Ruger probaly learned from Remingtons mistake, and didn't skimp too much on the quality of the American.

They'd be better off to sell $200 SS 700 actions.

I have one. shot 5 shot group under an inch at 100 yards with the first load I tried. crisp trigger, nice magazine. not pretty but as good or better than the other budget guns.
this is way way better than the 770, 710, etc.

Ruger was smart enough to put good barrels on the American.
