I want a 1 piece DNZ mount on my Remington 700 257WBY with a Lepould VX-2 4-12x40 AO scope. Do I need the medium or low 1 piece mount?

I use mediums for a 50mm objective on my Tikka. I think a low would work but I'd give them a call and ask for their recommendation.

The low should allow the front bell to clear the barrel with no problem, but that's not where you will run into issues. It's the bolt handle and the rear ocular on the scope you need to worry about. the DNZ one piece extra low was enough for my Nikon Prostaff 5 4.5-18x40 to clear the barrel on my XTR but the bolt handle hit the rear portion of the scope. Had to go with a low to get the clearance. The low should work for your application but the handle will be tight to the scope.

The lows work just fine. The bolt on my 700 clears the ocular bell just fine on my Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40, and it has a HUGE ocular. The medium would make your rig look awkward with the scope up that high.

I've used 6x42 Leupolds in x-low DNZ's on a Remington sporter contour and a Douglas #2. Both were Remington actions and the bolt handle cleared fine, very little room between objective and barrel. Even though the x-lows fit, I prefer the low as it fits my cheek weld better.
