I am looking at a gun that I might want to buy.
What is the ballpark market price of an unmolested 99G takedown from the 1920's? Condition is very good, but it's not a museum piece.
Thank you.

G's are a little light in the loafers, but they haven't tanked like the rest of the 99's have lately. Cartridge makes a difference. Whatdaya got?

Sounds like a shooter. Pay $500-700 and go shoot the sheit out of it.

Definitely a shooter. But I get a special kick out of shooting guns from the 20's and 30's. This is it:

Looks like a nice shooter but the bottom line is will it make you happy at the price you're willing to pay. If so buy it. If not or if you're having seconds thoughts send it down the road. Personal satisfaction has a lot to do with price. If it scratches your itch and makes you happy its a good deal. If you're looking for an investment to put your kids through college that's a whole 'nother deal.

However, I also like to feel that if I were to resell it right away I would not expect to take a huge hit.

Other than my Grandad's old SRC my favorite shooter is my 1928 G in .300. Something about it just feels right.

As far as owning and shooting a M99, unless the barrel has been shot out or it has other issues you can't beat carrying a M99 in the woods. It handles like a fine English shotgun and points like a dream. As to not taking a hit if you decide it's not for you and intend to sell it I can't speak to that. I'm an addict so my opinion is somewhat prejudiced in favor of keeping it.
