Thanks dave! I know who owns it...I couldn't find out who had it for sale. I got it now though.
It's in Lake County. I'm hoping it's for sale awhile. They're asking $85K for 10 acres. I think I can find cheaper land, but I dont think I can find a spot with a better view. I'm hoping to have a better idea by next spring about what I can do.
I did find out one thing, there is a A LOT of land for sale right now.
The good part is, I'm not looking for a specific spot. I have a big area I'd be OK to have property in. That makes it easier to wait for a decent price and a good piece.

I have land that I could sell you for half of that per/acre and you'd have way better neighbors too! 9'x10' log cabin & a couple of deer stands would come with it.

I'm not sure what I'd do with a cabin that big!

Saw the heart team on Tuesday and they said my new hardware is working just fine. Celebrated by going to the rifle range yesterday. (Sorry and thanks to Rflshtr for the invite.) I cobbled together a little Mossberg 500 youth gun with a cantilever ported camo colored barrel and an old Weaver 1.5-4.5X scope. Stock's too short, so I slipped on one of those boot style recoil pads to stretch it out a bit. Man, does this think shoot! It's pretty loud with the ported barrel, but the recoil is much more manageable than my old 12 gauge 870 running Fosters.
I shot about a box and a half of Hornandy SST's through it. The last 3 shots made a nice little cloverlear at 100 yards. 3" high and dead on at 50 yards put me centereded vertically and about 2" to the right at 100 yards. This Frankenstein gun shoots honest 1" groups with the very first sabots I tried through it. Sure felt good to spend some time at the range.

you should see that baked pasture land they sell here for that much. litteraly bare ground without a view and virtually no chance for a well unless you're lucky enough to have water AND don't mind dropping 30-40k into a well. land is crazy, and likely do to all the boomers retiring who want a slice of the country life. it's all I can figure. they aint making any more of it, so expect prices to increase. sad

$8,500/acre?? Holy Monkey!! It's worth that much. Try to buy land around here!! That's across the road from Lake Superior. Inland, there was more reasonably priced property.

Yeah I guess when you think about it, there are a few lakes around here that the shoreline goes for around $5k per foot so I can see that.

I did a little scouting this evening after work. Some of you know I drew a special draw archery tag near home. It's a in a county park. With that brings a goofy set of rules including "you must keep any harvested deer covered up and out of sight." You may only hunt from tree stands. No staling, no blinds, nuttin but tree stands.
I also have to stay 200' from the paved walking trails. Finding deer sign wasn't that hard, but finding a stand site 200' from any walking trail was! I did find a good island of maples that are along a lake with cattails 7' high. The deer are tearing up the cattail area.
I even saw a deer, so I have a bit of hope anyway!

Thanks GG. I have a few of my own here I can throw up. I'm trying to decide if I want to use my climber or a hang on tho. They become public if we leave them up. If I use a hang on, I may just pull the ladder down and leave the stand up....hmmm. I kind of like that idea.
