I think Wisconsin holds the record for the biggest bear and coon ...weight wise...I least that was the word as I was running a trap line in the late 70's

I dunno. Pennsylvania has some pretty heavy bruins. Several over 800 pounds. North Carolina has a few, too.

This Bear was taken about 15 miles from our land. There aren't a lot of Bears this far South and not a lot of hunters either in the area.

The dam things are running around like chickens farther North.

Hide square and the skull's green score gives me much more comparable info than weight alone.

Yes, weight fluctuates significantly. One guy shoots an 800 pound bear in the fall that weighed 500 pounds the previous spring, another guy shoots a 600 pound bear in the spring that weighed 825 the previous fall.

I am sorry I posted this.I thought a 780 pound bear was an achievement in it self. Apparently not.I wonder how many here have even seen a Bear over 300 Pounds.My guess is not many.
