Due to bad luck on the draw and no vacation due to a new job it looks like I will be doing the stick and string thing this year. Five weekends to hunt is too good to pass up. Who else is going twang this fall? lol.

I, too, was looking at chasing elk with my recurve this year. Like you, new job in a new area kind jinxed that for me. Though the prospects for deer and bear are looking good.

Maybe next year.

Scott,
I am lucky in that I am only about 2 hours from where I hunt most of the time so I can do all five weekends of archery elk. I have a pse compound I bought a few years ago. I just need to re-site it for the wisker biscuit that I replaced my old rest with. I wore the other rest out target shooting. Oh and finding time to practice before season. lol. tom

I'm going to try bowhunting elk for the first time this year. I normally hunt the ML season but tried to draw into a unit that took more than my 8 preference points.

I got a longbow for Christmas and have been practicing ever since. Gotta love the archery season here in CO, what with the warmer weather and the rut. I like to hunt out of a backpack so the early season is easiest. I plan to check out some new areas. I'll probably be doing a lot of walking and looking, which is a great way to check out new places.

Weekends near home. Then I'll be in a thicket near John Day / Granite chasing dreams for a week. Been shootin 50%. Whether I get one or not is less important than just getting in the "mix". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
