I purchased a used 111 Chiefton in 7X57 and took it out to the range to get it sighted in. The gun itself looks to be in great shape anyhow I opened the bolt and all of sudden the Rear Baffle Assembly falls off the bolt???? I say what the Fudge and proceed to install it back on the bolt. It went back on but I choose not to fire it. I know this is not normal. Any advice on what happened. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the world of Savage 110, etc... I don't like 'em.
Prior owner probably fugged with it, however. Take it to a gunsmith to check out.
Or post to the Savage forum- lots of Savage-smart guys over there.

Someone has messed it up. The Savage action is a good action.

If the rear baffle fell off, is the ball bearing still there? The bearing is supposed to run in the groove on the bolt body. If it's missing or is turned out of that groove, it can come off. As stated though, Savage actions are good and strong.
