I love them - sometimes I've even cut my lounge on the sharp edges while licking out the inside of the can. Now that is some funny sheet right there. LOL!!

I love sardines. The small double layer King Oscar brand are my favorite. Same here. Speaking of which, I'm running a little low on them, I only have two or three cans in the cupboard. Ed What about the emergency WW3 dimocrap stash?

Sardines...hell no.
Pickled herring...hell yes! Why not both? Smoked herring is very good as well, esp for breakfast with eggs, baked beans and toast. I have a big jar in the fridge. I'm fixing to put some on rye bread with mayo and extra sharp cheddar. Sounds perfect. I love pickled herring. I need to ask rattler what is pickled herring. Time was I would feed my two old tom cats a can of Jack Mackerel every night.. watch them fight Never figured what Jack Mackerel was but I gathered it was border line for human consumption. Was cheaper than cat food.

Where I grew up everybody had them in the pantry. I still eat them, though I'm the only one in the house that does. Back in the 60's my mother worked in the canneries when she was in high school. My family built a mustard mill to support the canneries in Eastport Maine in 1900. My uncle still operates it today. Last of the true cold grind mills left I believe. Still use grindstones they got from France when they opened. Neat place to check out if you ever make it way Down East. http://rayesmustard.com(Shameless family company plug, if you like mustard, they do make the best out there)

Took two cans with red tomato and chile sauce to deer camp this year. Always have some or kipper snacks and potted meat in camp.

I love sardines. The small double layer King Oscar brand are my favorite. Yup, the Bristling Sardines, double layer, in olive oil, in the King Oscar brand are the best, in my HO. With Saltines & Beer. In the early 70's, I worked for a company that manufactured food canning machinery. One of the customers was a sardine canning plant in Saco, Maine. After we'd sell a new line of canning machinery to them, techs and the plant manager would go up to get things up and running. They'd come back with cases of all different flavors of sardines: sardines in hot sauce, in mustard sauce, in tomato sauce, you name it. And as someone mentioned here, those were a whole different strain of fish, but probably fell into the sardine family. They were big and bony. Because of that, I couldn't eat sardines for a long time, until someone introduced me to the KING OSCAR'S, DOUBLE LAYER BRISTLING SARDINES, IN OLIVE OIL. Awesome snack!!

I need to order some good sardines. Nothing around here but fish chunks called sardines. Apparently these are the ticket?

Travis I do too. Do you get the BRUNSWICK brand kipper snacks out there? I've tried several brands, but always seek out the BRUNSWICK's brand. Always consistently good. Some of the others, not so much.

That's what you want. Good eating, right there. Tiny little feather bones that you don't even know are there, and the flavor is top shelf. Enjoy!
