Resurrected an old thread in 'custom rifles' but only got a couple responses. http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/9221734/1Not sure how long my 7STW barrel is going to hang on and punching a little bit bigger hole in Roosevelt elk might be a good thing. Anyone hunting a 30stw? Just looking for people's thoughts. I have a pretty good supply of 7stw brass which should be one pass thru a die to become 30stw brass (as would 8mm mag brass).

It would be a 300 wby w/o the radius shoulder. At least case capacity wise.

Are you thinking rebore?
Otherwise, I think I'd trip the brass and go 300WM or 338.

The original version of Remington's .300 Ultra Mag was simply the 8mm Mag necked down but they realized it offered no advantage whatsoever over the .300 WBY.
