Right on the heels of a not so successful elk hunt came a MN whitetail youth hunt for chickenbuck Joe.
First day was a bust.
But the second day....
Boom-shak-a-lacka!
10 yr old Joey was in a 2 person stand with his sweet mama (mom's stand too) while dad walked a big ole loop trying to stir something their way.
I'm so glad Pam got this experience, to sit with her son when he got his first deer. I've done it with the older boy, and I was first on the set when the daughter got her first as well. So, it was Pam's turn to experience the excitement.
So proud of them both.
(camera in a tree branch, self timer, lol)
Yep, Dry doe. Shot straight through the winzerspynzel. (that's the area what breathes wind and also has spine parts)
220 Swift. Straight down like a ton of bricks.
Well, since he is only 10 yrs old I agreed to do the field work for the young man, but he had to help and he had to pay attention. He also had to shake my hand when I was done, and give a slimy five.
Oh lordy she was heavy, I couldn't have hauled her out of the woods without Joe towing the line.
Good to see. Another seasoned vet at chickenbuck. I wish I could come and hear Joe's stories about his hunt but I'm sure they'll still be fresh when I see you folks next.
Tough luck on the wapiti hunt but that's hunting...... It looks like Joe might be the new lucky charm.
THIS just made my entire weekend!!! Plays with Matches has SCORED!!!!!! Now ya got meat in the freezer and another guy to tell hunting tales(Exaggerations) Buy the young man a root beer and send me the bill!!!
Be afraid,be VERY VERY afraid ad triarios redisse My Buddy eh76 speaks authentic Frontier Gibberish!
Hey Dave, welcome back. Congrats joey! Did u use An old knife gun on that first deer. Cant wait to hear the stories from the hunt. My boy got a doe yesterday as well so today is cutting time.
It is a silly fish that is caught twice with the same bait!
Great pictures, Dave! and Congratulations to Joe for taking a most delicious looking doe with a very classy cartridge. The Swift is still king in my book.

I gotta be honest. Mine too. I met Joey when he was 3. I'm sooo excited to see this happen!
Me any my GF's boy went out scouting some bow hunting spots this morning and he found the best looking trail. I'm hoping to sneak a hunt in this coming week after work.
