My GS removed the thin sheet of lithium from an Energizer ultimate AA battery and dropped it in a tin can of water. Watch what happens. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152797104469935&set=vb.602394934&type=2&theater
The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

Alkali metals will do that. Li, Na, K, etc.

Alkali metals will do that. Li, Na, K, etc. Neither me nor grandson know that much about metal composition but he's learning. I'm too old and numb to learn so it's up to him. He has taken a great interest in chemistry and is looking forward to next year in school so he can be in the "serious" class.

Of the alkali metals lithium is the least reactive. If you look at the periodic table of the elements, the left most column contains the alkali metals, starting with lithium (LI). As your go down the list they get more reactive.
