The pair I've worn now for over 15 years is finally getting to the end. It was a pair I'd bought at Fleet Farm (Field & Forest, IIRC) but that same brand doesn't seem to be anywhere near the same quality now as it was then.
Ok - choices seem to be between Danner, Thorogood or Wolverine (tryin' to stay in a US made item).
More than anything it's gotta be something that's comfy enough to wear all day w/o bein' a pita.. Can be soft toe or steel toe and prefer 8". Man, some of these things run over $350 bux... Geez...
Any of y'all out there have/wear any of the three above and what do you like/dislike about 'em?

Keen makes work boots. Heard many good things, but have not worn them myself.
Our beer delivery driver swears by them and he puts them through a work out.

It appears they only make about 40 varieties.

If they can be repaired, I'd send 'em to Hoffman's Boots in Kellogg, ID. Sons-of-bitches charged me $8 (eight) dollars to sew back up the worn out stitches on a pair of beloved hunting boots.

If it were me I would look HERE then look on line to see who has the best prices. They make boots in the US and are way under your price range. I have owned several pair and when my Whites wear out I will go back to Double H.

Haven't worn Thorogood but between Wolverines and Danner it's Danner for me, (plus the wolvres were made in china). I have since seen Danners on ebay for about 1/2 price but w/blemish. I bought a pair and the blemish was nothing - I'll buy those again if I wear these out. I wear the RATs and they're good for all day -every day for me. Good luck Redneck.

Greetings from north of the 49th Redneck, I have been very happy with Redwings. These are 8" rise, with the steel toes. I have treated them with beeswax since I bought them and they are still highly water resistant as well as comfortable. I had to get them resoled at year 12 because the sole was wearing too smooth but the leather was still in very good shape. While they are not a hiking boot I do not hesitate at the thought of walking in them for miles or being in them on a project site all day. http://www.redwingshoes.com/red-wing-shoe/2412-red-wing-shoes/2412-red-wing-mens-8-inch-boot-brownI understand these are made in America as well which is a plus for the North American economy ergo all of us. At the end of the day I don't mind paying good money for good quality.

Not all of the Danners are made in the USA so if that's what you want you need to verify it for whatever model you're interested in...
