In Ottawa, early reports were about a double barrelled shotgun. I could see from the pic that it was a Win 94. This reminds me of, when over a decade ago, cable TV narrator Bill Curtis voicing over a pic of a Win 94 and saying, "This is the shotgun that Randy Weaver sawed off," It all makes sense today. The magazine tube looks like a second barrel, to a non gun person.

I heard a witness say it was a double barrel shotgun so the media was probably just going with that.

tis why the media stink so bad
they're always wiping their elbows after taking a dump that they print in the paper

I made that comment in another post, in thats what it looked like to me. Curious as to when it will be redefined as a "assault weapon." Which in 1894, it would probably meet that defintion. Also, holds way too many rounds per come pundits.

I just had to post yesterday on a rather well known gun rag website on facebook. Author of one of the articles in the mag made the statement that in essence the .45/70 was developed for use in lever action rifles. and the guy writes articles?

I read that this picture is an old one of the subject, and he is not holding the same gun that was used in the assault. I think that explains people's confusion.

So what is a thrown coffee cup? I don't think we will ever see the term "non-assault weapon", however.... or "assault non-weapon".

Jeff Cooper IIRC said it was a good assault rifle. man how liberals like to play with language, somehow "assault" is a bad word now???? what the hell is wrong with assaulting a criminal? be it a Muslim terrorist, a home invader or a politician? also believe we should educate our media types let each shoot a round from a .30-.30 and then touch off both barrels on a dbl. barrel 12 ga. and then ask them: notice any difference?

Personally I take the side of William T. Sherman when it comes to the media.

Jeff Cooper IIRC said it was a good assault rifle.
He told me that it was a useful tool for police in urban/suburban situations. We were specifically discussing the Laurie Dann standoff in Winnetka, IL.

One of the construction worker witnesses who saw the whole thing identified it as a double barreled shotgun before any of those pictures came out. I saw the interview myself. That is probably the source of the confusion.

He fired 40 shots out of a Model 94????? It must have one of those danged hi-cap magazines. Those things are dangerous. Now where's my sarcasm font.
