I just swapped out a marlin 338 express for a Browning BLR in .243 Belgium 1971 . I am looking for a good deer round .I know there are both sides not a good deer round ,hell ya it is and ,and more . What bullets will work best for penetration , and what powder that proves good grouping to match up with

100g Hornady over whatever powder you have appropriate for .243.

Just FYI, I had a BLR in 308 from that era and had to use a small base die set. Tight chambers were common. I have used 243s in other rifles for about 60 years, and I have never lost a deer with them, either muley or whitetail. Slow burning powder and a good bullet like the Nosler Accubond are deadly. Good Luck!

The BLR is a fine rifle, I have a '81 model in .308 Winchester. There are dozens of good .243 recipes for deer. You might check the reloading/handloading forum for lots of discussion in the archives about .243 deer killers. I have used the .243 for a couple dozen deer with excellent results.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

I great performer in every 243 I have loaded for has been the 95 nosler ballistic tip over 41.5 grains of H4350. Very accurate and good velocities. The 95 BR is a tough bullet too, the best going in the 243 IMHO
