2mg, The U.P. is some awesome country!!! Just came though it last Aug.. For some one who hunts open country, it sure is different.. You have an outstanding gun and knife collection.. Beautiful.. My uncle had a .348 deluxe I believe.. I lusted after it.. Gave it to a son in law who sold it for beer.

Swede, those 721 .300 H & H's certainly are fine guns.. Owned a couple, but let them get away.. The best deer hunter I knew as a young man, used a slide action Rem. either 14 or 141 AND a 721 in .300 H & H.. He was deadly with either..

Bruin, That old 32 spl. is just like my Dad's.. Only he was not much of a hunter.. I have now.. Don't shoot it much.. Killed a couple p. dogs last summer with it.. Killed my first deer with it, an antelope, and mt. lion.. Have a mate to it in .30-30..

My only remaining 99 is a.250 that belonged to my father in law..
Kind of surprised by the lack of Marlins. Bruins 44 was sharp.
Have three: all half mag. jobs .25-35, .30-30 and .45-70..
Nice to see folks hunting deer with deer rifles...

Went for a little stroll to see if a squirrel or two would join us for dinner but I guess the wind had made 'em hole up.

My photography skills are sadly lacking compared to the rest of you but here's what I took with me. 1937 Winchester model 12 in 16 gauge, Well used and well loved by 3 generations so far.

Will this qualify? 1886 Winchester ( Browning) shooting cast and black....

This was a lot of pounds and a lot of hair ago....

I'm in a thicket right now in Jackson Michigun. Bud spotted 4 nice bucks here this morning. If one comes in, its gonna be pretty up close and personal. Got about 30 turkeys down the ridge below me. Life is good!

50's vintage Woolrich coat, Savage 1899H .22 High Power, poor man's GPS (map and compass), self-made knife (0-1 tool steel blade, cherry grips- from wood on the family homestead, pewter cap).

Or this: (Model1903A1 Springfield)- Just in case I encounter any Japs hiding in the pine thickets.



Or this 98 Mauser .30-06 w/ Weaver K2.5 in Griffin&Howe QD side mount, and leather tube which carries the scope into the woods.

I don't have dies for the 30 rem. I am told it can be done with the correct shell holder and 30-30 dies, which I have, but I haven't tried it yet. My Grandpa's 1899 is also a takedown model and I do reload for it.

Steelhead's 95 has got me looking in a new direction. I have avoided 95's as they haven't really turned my head, until recently. Until then, I continue to hunt with real classics, not so much reproductions...

Gorgeous rifle and a nice bear your boy whacked. I'm kind of afraid to go all-out and use an original, so I'll stay with repros, old scopes and receiver sights for now.

About 4 years ago. 94 Winchester, approx 1913 mfg, 30 W.C.F. The rifle came from my father-in-law, who got it from a friend of his. The friend got it from his father in the late 60's, and his father got it from a retired Arizona Ranger in the early 1950's. Pretty cool story, and knowing the history makes it that much better. When I killed that buck I wrote a story about the whole thing for my father-in-law for Christmas that year. If you fellas are interested, I will post it up for you.

This old rifle doesn't hold a candle to the ones posted here as far as condition, but it means a lot to me. It is living history.

This is a nice old 03-A3 with some unique history. It has the Ogden Arsenal stamp on it and the letters EK in a box. This rifle was inspected by Elmer Kieth...
