i do know it was a 100 grain hornady round nose from a 243 youth handi rifle that did the deed.

thank god for my honda rancher 4 wheeler.

The boy had a great time so did I. thanks for you and Gwen coming by to haul it out of that hell hole. Im still pumped about the hunt .Just finished butchering the deer .

hunting in northern Missouri overgrown cattail swamp the boy and I got up first morning coffee & hot chocolate for sure .we got a blind in a bunch of willow snags saw no deer in morning .

boys got his new knife from grandpa looked like a swashbuckler hacking everything being a boy doing what they do when board .

we get to blind by 3pm the wait is on im hoping for any deer to show itself .we play I spy also look at moon it was out in the day a lot of moon talk.

deer comes out late evening raised its head a buck sam cant get shot I put arm across willow so he can get high enough rest to shoot minutes go by we are both shaking then another buck shows up we switch attention to him back the arm goes on willow for a rest finally he gets a shot buck is hit runs 30 yards .

we get handi rifle loaded again looks like deer is gonna go down .I tell him to shoot again buck drops at shot .
we are both pumped I have to wait a few minutes to calm down .

we get over to deer take some pics happy times walk to hill to get cell service call bobby he is at his farm 20 minutes away .
bobby is on his way with four wheeler and wife.

we go get deer what a deal for me they miss dinner the diner is closed by the time they get to suzie Qs or bills place .thanks

sam my youngest boy 12yrs old buck #3 for him .he used his handi rifle 243 cal.100 grn. hornady round nose dose of rl 19 that rifle and load killed a lot of deer for the kids over the years.

Congratulations to Sam, and best wishes to you guys. You must have been hunting close to my uncles' places up there in Northern MO. I won't be able to make it this year, but I've met Bobby up there and had a good visit with him.
I hunt out of Marceline (actually on farms SE of town) and usually make it up there every deer season, but I have a LOT going on this year and am too busy (yeah, I know, but this year is special).

Try not to kill all the deer this season, leave some seed for next year, and I'll be up there then.

I think I met you that time with bobby at a diner.
