Josh was one of the 14 semifinalist for the Lou Groza kicking award. A small mistake was made in the announcement. They said that Josh and Ball State kicker Scott Secor were tied for the most FGs this year(22), but Secor had played one less game and his average per game was better. Ball State played last night and Secor only had 3 PATs and no FGs. Josh is still the leading kick scorer Nationally and in kicking last second game winners. http://www.lougrozaaward.com/14semifinalists

I don't do sports, but have to admit following threads and when the wife or friends are flipping through, if they are playing I tend to watch a bit actually.

I called Tim Gardner the other day and told him that Josh was your grandson. He did not know that but was glad to find it out. Now Josh has yet another WV denizen pulling for him....but Tim was already pulling for him. Tim just didn't know of the connect. Anyway, he was glad to find out about Josh and you.

Since the first Lou Groza Award was handed out in 1992, 20 finalists, including 11 winners, have gone on to appear in the NFL, earning eight trips to the Pro Bowl and taking home five Super Bowls. That list includes current NFL kickers Dan Bailey, Randy Bullock, Mason Crosby, Kai Forbath, Graham Gano, Sebastian Janikowski, Mike Nugent, Cairo Santos, Caleb Sturgis, and Blair Walsh. When it happens and I believe it will this is a pretty impressive list of kickers to be associated with.

Fantastic, Butch! Been keeping an eye on when the WV games are on and watch to see how Josh does when I can. I did the place kicking duties for My HS team when I was a Jr and a Sr in HS. Haven't suited up in 45 years, but old HS classmates still call me "Toe". This was back in the day when kicking FGs in HS was a rarity and I never even attempted one (does that mean I never missed one? ). Only missed one PAT and that is because it was blocked - but I made the guy who blocked it pay for his effort by driving it as hard as I could right into his facemask and broke his nose . . . So, Butch, I do know it takes a lot more talent and ability than a lot of folks think, to do what Josh does, and it is great to hear he is being recognized for his efforts.
