To get some good and big things done, Republicans are going to have to find 5 or 6 Democratic Senators who will cross the party line and vote with the Republicans on some big issues. Sometimes to over ride a veto and other times to get issues passed that need a supermajority on the vote due to the topic at hand.

Ideally we find 5 vulnerable Democrats with seats to defend in at 2016 and who live in red states or at lease red LEANING states.

Who fits this model? Can any of them bring themselves to support an impeachment hearing? Vote? That takes sixty as well. Mitch McConnel had best be about finding these men and courting them heavily. Maybe right into the Republican side of the house, even!

Nothing good is going to happen. Generally speaking, we don't have to worry about anything really bad happening though, so that's good.

But in two years everyone will be completely disenchanted with the republicans that they're so excited about right now.

Then they'll start pouting about how they're not even gonna vote if a REAL conservative isn't on the ballot and we'll be in the same boat we were in on Monday.

No democrats are going to vote to override an Obama veto so the republicans are really powerless to force through legislation.

There's a cycle I've noticed over the years. Democrats control government and government gets expanded hugely. Public gets fed up and throws democrats out, republicans get drunk with power and expand government though not as hugely as the democrats. Public gets fed up with republicans and throws them out, Democrats expand government hugely again. Rinse. Repeat.

In the 2000 elections the republicans got control of the house, senate, and presidency. We still got bigger government out of it.

The biggest benefit of the republicans gaining control of the senate is that Obama isn't going to be able to stack the federal judiciary and supreme court with the really radical leftists judges. Leftist judges are what's really killing the country now, anything the democrats can't get through congress they just hand off to the judiciary and they rule it into law. Look at gay marriage, the defense of marriage act was passed overwhelmingly in 1996 but now gay marriage is allowed in many states. If the left doesn't get what it wants out of congress they just go to the courts where left leaning activist judges will give them what they want.

There it is right there.

The Republicans will not be able to pass any Legislation, fact.

Obama and the Democrats hope that the Republicans send a [bleep]-ton of bills his way so he can veto them.

The Media will proclaim Obama and the democrats in the Senate as the last line of defense against the Evil Corporate luving women hating Republicans.

After several months, the REAL economic and unemployment numbers will come out and the Media will blame the Republicans for the disastrous economy and the lack of good paying jobs and the American people will swallow their lies Hook-Line-n-Sinker.

2016 will be a disaster for the Republicans and we will be back to a Democrat Senate and a Democrat in the WH.
All because to many so called republicans are to stupid to see what game the Media and the democrats are playing.

Excellent point in each of those sentences.

Heard the administration will quit propping up the stock market.

It requires 60 votes to end debate in the senate, and 67 votes to override a presidential veto.

Remember why, specifically, the Bill of Rights was written...remember its purpose. It was written to limit the power of government over the individual.

Yes they will. Almost makes ya wonder if the Democrats lost the Senate on purpose, so the Media can demonize he hell out of the Republicans in the next two years. Thus paving the way for another Democrat super majority in 2016-2018

I do believe that some Democrats will cross and make a veto-proof majority on some issue. Time will tell, but I don't believe they want a replay of the "Voted with 0bama 99%" ads.

We should count to see how many dim Senators are up for reelection in 2016 as I don't believe the entire Senate turned over, did it? Take that number of dims and that is the number you can start with in tail twisting to get them to vote with the GOP on such issues.

Think back it seems like a lot of the time after we think we have things going our way, we have a defection or two to the Democrat side. Think Jim Jeffords. miles

Those dims who are up for election in 2016 are going to be very interested in what their electorate decided in this election. There is a chance the Right could pull some votes their way but I'm not sure there's enough clear thinking dims to make the 60 number. We also have to remember that we'll need ALL of the GOP votes to minimize the number of dim votes needed to get there.

After missing your predictions on the last election by so much, it is interesting reading your new ones. Last real active political poster from MN was Nsaqam. Sometimes your posts remind me a lot of his.

Colorado state senate went Republican this time, kicked out our commie senator and came very close to cleaning out the governor. Truth is in 2 years, none of us have a clue what will happen. But most recently, your forecasts could not have been more wrong.

Cooperation is going to depend on the mood of the Senate.

Zero has threatened to veto GOP sponsored legislation that he doesn't agree with and take executive action on immigration reform.

Boner and MM have threatened Zero with "poisoning the well" and "playing with fire and getting burned" on executive action on immigration reform.

Both of these threats, if carried out, will once again create gridlock. A steadfast us vs them attitude on both sides.

Actually, I think there may be a chance that some will when it comes to the universally hated Obamacare.. Especially those states where Dems barely eked out a victory this election and their compatriots will be on the butcher block in '16.. They might be pushed enough to see the light and get rid of that pos law if for no other reason than to save their sorry azzes..

One can only hope..

Some? Maybe, but 13-15, enough for a 2/3 majority? Do ya think?
