We didn't have a shot around us until 3pm. Never seen anything like it. Very quiet!

Very quiet around here as well. Nothing remotely close to most years. I did whack a decent 8pt last night about 1/2 hour before dark. One through the ribcage at about 200 yds and it was all over. I even managed to save the heart but severed the lines going to it. He tipped the scales at 182# dressed out. No pics as I am terrible at those things. I'll try to get a snap of the head & rack for you guys.
The boss says back to work now that my tag is filled. I think we're going to have words over that deal..... smile

No polar vortex here, it's in the mid-30's, but we do have snow and plenty of it. It was coming down heavily when I got up this morning and there was about 4" on the ground. It's still coming down hard enough at 1 pm that I have to go out and brush the dish off to watch the Lions game.

20* here and just a dusting of snow. Winter is coming now. Single digit lows by this coming weekend.

Lots of good potential there ND. The ribs and the rubs.

Passed on a 4, 2 different 6s and an 8 yesterday. Great day in the woods. Tons of turkey's. Could have shot 20 or more from my stand. Man do they make a racket! Out in the wheelie hut stand with Lauren now. Sure hope we can get something inside 50 yards tonight! This morning we saw one in the brush and he couldn't stop shaking! I love it!

The ribs taste better than the rubs.

we was skunked.
three deer were taken on three sides of us, but not by us.
got about 1/2 ", of snow Saturday night, but it wasn't any help.
went for a walk around the stand in the fresh snow, and not a track to be found for 500 yards in any direction.

did find a new place to put a stand, though,so it wasn't a total loss.
Believe me when I say the picture doesn't do it justice.
what a beautiful spot.
about an hour after sunrise.

Camp Isabella report.

One forky down and one other deer seen, a flag waving leaving the area. Lots of tracks seen now that the wind stopped howling.

Congats to all who scored.

I had a buck come cruisin through about 7:10 this morning. By the time I got the scope on him he was behind some trees. Then went straight into neighboring private land.

It is slow around here. Tonight I sat at the edge of a cut bean field that is full of tracks and I have lots of cam pics of deer but not a single one came out.

I don't know what is going on?

Three hunters, three fuzzy wind-chimes,and the first-time hunter dropped the biggest deer on her second day ever of hunting.

Lotta venison processing this week and weekend.

Pics when I get home after driving through the snow apocalypse tomorrow.

Another 8pt shot from my stand tonight by a fellow hunter. About 180# like mine yesterday but some broken tines. He was a fighter. I saw a good 6pt earlier but passed on it. I feel like my stand is a hot spot this year which is good since I haven't shot a buck for about six years.

ND will you have ribs this coming weekend? I can bring goodies too. Anyone for venny heart or some jerky? I should be done with the hoe on Wed then just dozing jobs as I want to finish off the year so I'll have plenty of time to come play. I'm brewing some pickled venison now.

We did well... six of us, three does and three bucks. Diane's cousin Chris hunted today for the first time in twenty-some years and shot her first buck. a fork. We saw a number of other deer as well.
