Don't think I've ever heard of Makes no Patties, but then again, I'm just a part timer here.

I am thrilled to report that my 10 year old daughter shot a button buck tonight about an hour after my last post! Great shot from 48 yards. I got her buck fever on video and it is priceless!

I came home early, (after hunting last night). I woke up this morning in full hunt mode... then realized I was at home and I would be working on classic cars today rather than stomping the woods and swamps. I guess that's cool, I'll head back out to camp on Thursday. I have a couple pictures from previous weeks preparing the cabin for deer season, not much for pictures from this opening weekend, not much happened, lol. Here we are doing some cleanup around camp. One tree next to the cabin had to come down before a storm took it the wrong way. The other is the big tamarack that was holding one end of our meat pole.

A doe and three fawns came out of our woods feeding down a line of cedars we planted a few years ago. Lauren got all excited and started shaking. I said it's okay to shake, but you have to control it when it is time to shoot. Of course we didn't think it was going to take an hour for them to feed down to us. First 1 fawn came and she just couldn't get aimed right. I stopped it 4 times with a Baaaaaaa. Them the next fawn.... Same result. Then the doe... Same result. I have to hand it to her, she must have felt a lot of pressure to shoot. The last fawn was right by the doe and she got on him and knocked him straight down. Then the excitement boiled over. Wow. Never seen anything like it. Tears of joy, hopping up and down, just raw emotion that was pretty special to watch as a dad. I feel bad that non hunters will never experience that.

Yeah, that just an unexplainable feeling, as a proud father !
Watched my son & wife get their first, & many more since, & still remember that emotion.
My 20 year old daughter did some shooting this fall too & promptly decided she would do the Hunter Safety & licencing thingy at next opportunity & be ready to sit with Mum, next season !!
Now, did she get her hands "dirty" too ?
Paul.

That is fantastic.
Camp Isabella report. At 0745 this morning the wife shot a spike and we are both done hunting. That is the quickest that has ever happened. One hunter left in camp hunting today and tomorrow if needed. Then one coming for the weekend.
Luck to all from Camp Isabella.

I'm getting sleepy just looking at that picture! I can feel the warmth and hear the crackling of the stove
