I have never tried loading with Power Pistol but am thinking about giving it a try (if I ever find any!). Applications would be .38 Spl., .357 Mag., .44 Spl. all with jacketed bullets. What is your experience with this powder?

Very versatile powder across a broad range of cartridges including all you mentioned.
Burn rate is similar to Unique but very clean.
I use it exclusively in 45 ACP & 9mm as long as I have it available.

I've used it for .45ACP and .460 Rowland a bit, seems to work well. Had trouble finding any "recipes" for .44 mag or .45LC, then I read the container label, which says it was designed for semi-auto pistols.

I love it in my 9mm and 45. Clean burning too. But, it's very hard to find any right now, good luck.

I have only shot it in my .44 Special. I haven't put any of them across the chrony yet but all loads have been incredibly accurate. I have loaded them with 200 and 240 LSWC's and Hornady 200 gr. XTP's.
I have some .357's loaded up but haven't shot them yet.

It is the most accurate powder I ever loaded in 9mm. For target loads in 45 Auto and 38 Special, I have had the best luck with faster powders. Never loaded 44 Special but I would think it would work well with a case that size and the desired pressure.

Very clean burning and good accuracy. It had a bit more flash and a sharper report than W231.

PP is one I've been wanting to try. Titegroup has been my recent favorite in 45acp, and my 44spl loves 231 but I'm about out and need a replacement. The local Sportsman's Whorehouse has a good supply of PP and Titegroup right now so I think I'll pick up some of each...

I use it in the 38, 357 with 135 GD's and the 44 Spl with 200 JHP's, plus the 380, 9mm, .40, 45 ACP and 45 Colt with 250 JHP's. The only problem with it is finding it anymore.
There is no way to coexist no matter how many bumper stickers there are on Subaru bumpers!

I have some .357's loaded up but haven't shot them yet. How many grains are you using to push the 240's? Travis My stuff is all packed away from the move still but I believe it is about 7.5 grs. I am loading 8 grs. with the 200 gr. XTP's. I haven't finished my load testing with these yet as the move to AZ kinda interrupted the process.

I use PP in most of my 44 Special loads and like it a lot. My "beefed up" loads with 240 grain WFN hardcasts are doing about 1050 fps. I also load 200 grain XTPs up to 1130 fps -- amazing 25 yard accuracy. ![[Linked Image]](http://i861.photobucket.com/albums/ab176/larrykay47/a668c219.jpg)

Alliant shows 7.6 gr as max with a 240 jacketed bullet..........

Speer's #14 manual lists 8.0gr Pwr Pistol w/250gr Keith (the RCBS version) as a standard pressure load developing 954fps from a 5 1/2" Cimaron SAA.
Brian Pearce's .44 spcl article classified the 8.0gr Pwr Pistol load at 15,500 psi or less and in "Category One" (he had load tables for Three categories -- 15,500, 22,000 and 25,000 psi. The 250gr 429421 (Lyman Keith) and the 255gr 429244 (Thomson GC) chroned 980fps & 983 fps respectively from a 4 1/4" FA 97 (couldn't find test temp). The article in Handloader Mag, Aug 2005, No. 236 -- it's floating around the net somewhere.
I chronoed the 8.0gr/250 Keith (Lyman version from Western Bullet) load at 963 fps from my 5 1/2" FA97 (5 paces from muzzle and 55 deg F).
On the same day, with the same load/gun, Berry's plated 240gr went 905fps.

I would be interested to know if anybody is using PP for medium power 44 magnum loads. Something in the 950 to 1000 fps range with a 250 gr. Keith bullet in magnum brass. I'm getting low on Universal and Unique........

In the 250 grainers, 2400 starts to pull away from PP in velocity -- I know you know this-- but for others -- THIS IS A RUGER BLACKHAWK LOAD. Also, Brian Pierce in Handloader Mag is where I got the load info. Issue #260 -- July 2009.

Same for me. I get 1385 fps with 200 gr lead in my 45 Super Sig 1911 5". Very accurate powder.

I use Power Pistol in 9mm and 38 Special with cast and jacketed bullets. I am happy with everything about it especially the way it meters. It has basically replaced Unique for me.

I tried it in my S & W 586 revolver shooting 38 special handloads. Never could get the loads to be as accurate as when loading the 38 special with Bullseye, Titegroup or 231. I ended up using it in my 9mm handloads with so-so accuracy results. When it is gone I'm not going to buy it anymore.

This is my favorite for 9mm. It's accurate, can match factory velocity, and is very clean.
My big surprise came when I used it in .45 Colt with a 250 gr XTP. Accurate and clean burning.
When I see a can of Power Pistol, I buy it.

Hornady manual recommends PP as most accurate powder with 250 gr XTP. I used 8.0 gr and it was great. Hornady shows a max load of 8.7 gr. Note that 8 gr does not take up much space in the .45 case, and a double charge could get ugly.

I use 8.8 grains Power Pistol behind a 260 grain LBT original Keith for 1000fps in the 4" barrel of my 629 Mountain Revolver. Yesterday I shot a 3 inch (ten ring) group at 50 yards. It is a deer killer.
