Working with a stainless Model 7 in 7 SAUM and the thing won't feed if I put 3 in the mag. The follower only seems to have pressure at the center and allows the cartridge to "teeter" over the center. Since there is no support at the rear of the cartridge, it drops down and the bolt rides over it. If / when the top cartridge feeds, the second one down is not picked up by the bolt, but is pushed forward and jams.

I have changed mag box and follower and still have the same issue. It looks like it really needs a spring that applies pressure at the front and rear of the follower, not the center. The mag box is seated into the action, floorplate/trigger guard installed properly and I made certain that all the cartridges were pushed all the way to the rear of the mag box when loaded.

Any ideas on how to tweak the spring so that it supports the rear of the follower?? Or other possible fixes??

Make sure the spring isn't in upside down and the follower is fully seated on the spring.

Bend the rear of the spring up slightly. It will be apparent that the butt heavy attitude should improve things. Pick a spot between the sharp bend at the top of the spring and the middle one. Closer to the top the more attitude. You can roll it over a marker between your fingers to get a clean bend.

Good luck

Spring will only go in one way, it's too long to lock into the floor plate if it's upside down.

I had tried bending the spring yesterday, your advice on using the marker did the trick, it now feeds perfectly.

Thanks
