Back in June, I bought a Marlin X7 in 308 that came with a scope. It probably is a Tasco as it looked exactly like those $39.95 Tascos at Walmart in a bubble pack. I had a few health set backs, and with one thin or another, i have not yet gotten to shoot the rifle. One major reason was the scope. It did not appear to have enough eye relief to safely shoot a .22. I had pretty much decided on a Redfield Revolution 3X9x40. The cost was right, and it was light and had good eye relief. I have had couple of good weeks at work, and had some money burning a hole. The nearest Academy is the only place locally with a decent selection of scopes.Well to make it short, Academy did not have a Redfield Revolution. The had a few Redfield Revenges, which are made in the Phillipines. So I looked around in the cabinet, and notice some Leupold VX1's in 3x9x40. It's pretty much the same scope as the Revolution. I asked the kid waiting on me what the price was, and guess what? Same price as the Revolution. Wrap it up. i tok it home and I've got it mounted on Talley Lighweights that I bought earlier, and have got it bore sighted (I think). Tomorrow if the weather is good I may just have to go shoot this thing. Any opinions on the VX1? Thanks in advance.

I have a few of the new VX-1s and I think they are perfect. I prefer mine with the LRD. Haven't had any issues with them. You did good.

I have a vx1 on my old 250,and I can't complain,I've also got a Revolution on a 270,and also can't complain. They give me what I need in a scope,Which is clear view, plenty of field.and most important is the confidence to know they never loose zereo..I do think I like the Redfield a little better, but I honestly don't know why .It does have that accu range retical, but I don't use it.The Leupold has those friction adjustments that folks complain about, but I kinda like em.They let me place the adjustment half way between two marks .

There were none available with any reticle other than the standard plex, Otherwise, I would have bought that. I think I'm good to go out to 300 yds or a little better. I will be shooting mostly at a range for now.
