Montana, What kind of ducks do you have there.. We had been getting diving ducks here before the freeze up.. Saw one like the bottom one.. Never got a chance to look it up.. Nice shooting..

Montana, What kind of ducks do you have there.. We had been getting diving ducks here before the freeze up.. Saw one like the bottom one.. Never got a chance to look it up.. Nice shooting.. Not MTCH, but pictured are a common scoter, oldsquaw/long tailed duck and surf scoter, AKA skunk head.

Thanks.. That surf scoter sure looked unusual on the local lake.. There was only one.. Again maybe unusual(?) I would have loved to bag it for the local taxidermist ...

Scoters are common on salt water particularly if there is a shellfish operation around.
Kevlar skin and can be tough to kill on the wing but about the dumbest bird alive. 3 local old timers kill the shcitt out of them using a pair of long lines with about 3 dozen 2 liter soda bottles painted 75% black and 25% white at the neck and they do it out of a shiny silver aluminum boat.
Fun birds to hunt and lots of opportunities at shots if your in a good spot. They aren't overly shy at all.
