Wow! I've been looking for an affordable .303 for a long time and you found one for 150 bucks? Congratulations on the find! One of the many knowledgeable Savage guys will be able to tell you all about your new rifle.

the real experts will be along to educate you but as to the price I will give you 200 for it!

Deerstalker I bet you would give me $200. Don't forget that was $150 Canadian lol. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet keep it and try and fix the stock get some brass and reload for it or just sell it off. The more I play with it the more I like it. I have a 99F in 300 that I really like (my second one) you can never have too many levers you know.

I think what you have is a Savage 99T that some one changed the butt stock and lever to straight grip. Check the fore stock and see if the serial number matches the one in front of the lever boss. Also remove the butt plate and see if if it has a serial number. I don't think it will match the rifle serial number. Hope this is of some help. Steve

Both the fore stock and the butt plate numbers match the rifle serial number. Can a straight lever simply be swapped out on a rifle with a curved lever originally? Of course the stock would have to be changed also.

Nice score, even though stock and lever are not matching. GW

Iceman welcome to the fire. not a bad find at all , if you want to unload it as a good canuck fellow citizen i'll take it off your hands. probably previous owner busted the original butt stock [fell on it or ?? and rather than lots of coin to replace picked up the straight stock and his friendly gunsmith had a straight lever to replace curved lever but as it is probably a good shooter. I am serious if you do sell it I would like to have first refusal or do a trade , lots of levers in the safe. norm

You need to get together with the guy who bought a 99F with a curved lever and a checkered pistol grip buttstock at the auction in Buffalo, Wy last weekend. You really made out on the price for your rifle. He paid about three times what the F is worth. I don't know who bought or I'd try to get you guys together. Probably best to leave your rifle alone anyway. David

Bon jour! Good deal for the money. The sling swivels and studs may bring 150. The forestock perhaps another 150. Barreled action should fetcth 2-300. Stock and buttplate anther 50.
When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
