I shot this one yesterday from a ground blind at 55 yards with a 9.5 inch 300BO pistol, penny going in, quarter going out, punched both shoulders, 110 Vor-TX. It was 1-2 minutes before end of legal time and I had the XPS2-0. Note to self....you cannot tell a doe from a buck at Sundown plus 27 using Eo-crap under the tree canopy in GA. I would not have shot it had I known it to be a spike, need a scout or pistol scope maybe, it weighted 120 pounds, ran 30 yards with oddly no blood trail. Did not find it until today at 1 but it was below 40 all night, BO punched right thru, that's the entrance hole in the picture.

Looks like a good meat deer. Still waiting to get one myself but I have seen nothing but yearlings so far.

Yeah, hard to fathom using an EoTech hunting. Nice red dots, though.

never apologize , every deer is a trophy . They eat the same regardless of the horn size.
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Funny to say bad genes, Pa game laws protect him. Only legal for youth hunter. Dont agree with them though. You get what you let breed

No loss unless illegal.
I"ve had some bad issues with not glassing before I shoot though, so I just pass a shot up if I have to.
But you did just fine.
Good job.

I've done the same thing before when gunning for doe meat at last light, especially at distances past 200yds.
Now with even more aplomb

Yep its easy. But we don't shoot nubbies... if you mistake a full on spike for a doe, you'll shoot nubbies too at times.
Thats a thing we are kinda critical on with the folks I hunt with.
So as noted if in doubt I pass until the next time.
Thats also a luxury others may well not have and thats totally understood.

it was legal time but too late for an Eotech/pistol shot things happen fast at sundown plus. Sadly we are seeing most of the deer at the very last minutes of legal shooting time. I think most are nocturnal.

I know, it can suck at times when its tough seeing deer.
Some of the years like that I end up hunting the noon hour to kill a few does, or different spots than normal.
Or just go without rather than a risky(to me) chance of shooting the wrong type of deer.
