Can a Mark X Mini Mauser be used as a 250 Savage platform?

I don't think so because I don't think the bolt face will take that rim and still give adequate pressure strength.
You can build on the 7.62x39 Russian case, but I don't think you can move beyond that limitation.

The Remington 799, which is the old daly mini mauser, et al, was chambered by the factory in 22-250.

Interesting. Then, I stand corrected.

And I have lengthened my Interarms MK X Mini mauser magazine to except the 2.405 length of my 6.5 GM cartridges.

If it can be done, that would be a SA WEET little deer rifle! Much like the old Savage Model 20

Just got my Mini Mauser back from the stocker(Dean Zollinger). I will have photos next week. I do have some of the metal work. I built it in 220 Russian. Roger Vardy in Australia found me a beautiful piece of wood with a lot of fiddleback. It weighs 6.25 pounds complete without the scope.

Butch:
Very nice. Whose barrel? What twist and contour? (muzzle diameter). I see you have a new bolt handle and three position safety. Who did that work for you? Also, is that a factory trigger?
Thanks,
Jordan

I did some of the work. Kerry Stottlemyer installed the safety and built the bolt handle, scope bases, and rings. Karl Feldkamp did the cuts on the action. It is a Shilen #2 contour in 14 twist as I'm using 52 grain bullets max. It is a factory trigger. Oh, the bottom metal was built by James Anderson.

Steelhead, what kind of stock is that? Very nice little rig and great choice of caliber.

Did you notice I quoted another user? It's his rifle, not mine.

A 6.5 Grendel would be a better fit and would likely do all the 250 Sav can do and more.

Start with a Mini Mauser in 22-250. Then the bolt face and feed rails would be no problem. However, the magazine isn't long enough to fit 250 Savage loads and would have to be lengthened. I've been told this is possible but I haven't done it myself.

That .250 Savage pictured is my daughter's, and if it wasn't already built I'd find a better action to build on. The action just isn't a good fit for the cartridge without a bunch of shoehorning. Magazine has to be lengthened, new follower made, and the bolt stop has to be moved when all is said and done you still can't eject a loaded round.
Don't get me wrong it's a great little rifle and my daughter loves shooting it, but you'll be money ahead to find a factory M700 or M77. I bought this rifle for $900 and can tell you Mr Weaver lost his ass on that rifle when he sold it to me. He hasn't made another for anyone else either, and I got the impression when it was all said and done be felt it wasn't worth the effort.

Local Smith built a 250 Savage on a 22-250 Mini-Mauser. The guy sold it later at a bargain. Due to the magazine length limitations it could not shoot anything longer than the 87 grain bullets. Because of this I passed and have regretted it since... as it was a dandy little rifle.
I believe the Mini-Mausers built for the 22-250 already had the action altered to fit the 22-250.
