My wife and I go to our adult children's homes for holiday meals, which is great except it leaves us with nothing to eat at home. This year the little lady and I plan to do a fancy venison lion meal at home on Black Friday. The recipe hasn't been completely decided yet but home baked bread and some good wine will accompany the venison.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

I like the Italian theme.
I'm thinking about cooking a big pot of spaghetti sauce with a whole chicken and Italian or Sicilian sausage. It's good.

We have turkey and a venison roast, that way those that wish can have the best of both worlds. Thursday I'll make turkey salad out of the leftovers, Friday will be smoked venison, thick sliced homemade crusty bread and a few glasses of a nice muscato. Afterwards a fine cigar from the humidor, life is good.

I tried going vegan, but then realized it was a big missed steak.

we had turkey, but i put a large eletric skillet slam full of cubed deer steak on to cook this morning at 7am. smothered in onion gravy and they ate every bit of it. we musta had half the turkey left.the deer was so tender that you could hardly pick up even a small piece without it falling off the fork. great stuff.

I like the way you roll Keith! Mike Daughter and Grandson flying in tomorrow. Will have a 15 lb turducken, stuffing, mashed taters, pies and all the rest on Saturday. Ordered a bunch of stuff from www.cajungrocer.com including 10 lbs of mud bugs for today. Also ordered some tasso and andouille. Made some red beans and rice to go with them. I am stuffed!

Just me and the dogs here so I made a small game pot pie. Grouse, Rabbit, and Squirrel. I par boiled the Squirrel and Rabbit with the veggie's but the Squirrel meat was still a little tough. I made gravy with butter, onions, milk, and chicken stock instead of using cream of chicken soup like I usually do. Much better,,, I'll never go back to Cambells. Washed it all down with a cold beer and had a glass of Bullit Burbon for desert. Life's good in Charlieland

That pie, dog n that bourbon sounds like a mighty amiable holiday meal to me. Well done!
I'd like to see the full pot pie recipe. I'm putting rabbits and squirrels up for it. Will have to substitute something in for the grouse.
