Handled a number of 69's and each on was noticibly different where the ball detent engaged the barrel (may be wrong on parts names here). The first one I handled engaged very securely but the other two were marginal in their engagement. Seems odd in a Smith revolver.
Seems like a nice gun regardless, although seems awfully delicate in hand and doesn't enstill the faith my SBH's do. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but I would feel a little spooked to start launching off 300 grain hardcasts over a mid-twenties grain load of H110 or Enforcer. Perhaps I just don't get it though and this gun isn't for me. May be why I left all three siting on the shelves.

Winchester white box 44 magnums were more than I wanted to shoot. A 240 gr lead bullet over 7.5 gr of Unique is perfect out of a 69.

I carry this 629-4 when in Griz Country. It's my third, and they've all been great. My only 44 Special ---- Carried much more than the 629. I'd have a very hard time not carrying that Ruger. Travis

Handled a 69 today. It felt like perfection in my hand. If I had the cash, I would have had a new .44mag.

I own multitudes of 44 Special's, both Smith's and Ruger's, and there is nothing finer than a 4 5/8" mid-frame Ruger SA, converted OM or the NM IMO.
