Can someone school me on Winchester 670. I found one in 30-06 I don't need it but I love winchesters. I was actually looking for one in 22-250 or 243 but my buddy found this one and I have never heard of a 670. Thanks for your help.

It's a Model 70 without the fine polish in a cheap stock without a floor plate.

From what I remember the 670 was an economy M70 that came out in the late '60s. Basically a push feed M70 action, some had the standard 3 position bolt safety and others had a 2 position trigger safety similar to a Remington 700. Most had a birch stock with impressed checkering and a blind magazine, no floorplate.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking because it sure not as pretty as most winchesters. What would be a fair price. It has some marks on the stock bluing is pretty good and has old bushnell scope and see through rings. Thanks again.

A quick check on Gunbroker shows a few with asking prices from around $350 to $550. However the only bids that have been placed are in the $250-$300 area. I don't think it's a highly sought after Winchester. You'll have to decide what it's worth to you, but I wouldn't spend much.

Would it be a good action to build off of?

I got one in 30-06 and it's one of the best shooting guns I own. I payed 300 for mine about 30 years ago.

I used one for a long time in 243 to start out with. Great gun if you can buy it cheap. Great action if it has the 3-position safety.
The best thing you could do for it would be to buy a replacement stock and junk out the 2x4 that they came with.

had one. one of the most accurate rifles in my battery. finish is not equal to the m70 but internals are good. paid 300.00 for mine. put a lam stock on it and my cousin decided he couldn't live without it. paid me 750 for it with a vx1 on it. his favorite rifle.
