I have used the blue Brownells stuff, Hornady OneShot case lube, and neutral Kiwi. They all release well, however I believe I get the best fit with Kiwi. The reason I believe this is that when I test barrel movement after the job is done, I more often get movement with the blue stuff and OneShot. I suspect that is because the first two go on thicker than the Kiwi that I polish off.

Well...the Pam worked after a fashion, and I only needed a half dozen of the words I had ready to scare the action out of the wood.

I've used PAM spray without any problems numerous times. It seems to me to release more easily than Johnson's Paste Wax.

I've glass bedded > 250 stocks so far and have had my best results with Brownell Acra Release. It just works, and I've never hit a snag with it yet. That being said, I bet Pam would work fine too like some here have stated.

No clue. I bought a quart of Brownell's RA many years ago and that is all I have used. Still an AL left.

Good thread. Way to stir it up Bruce! And glad you had enough Pam for breakfast!

Trewax is the wax most often recommended release agent by the boating crowd and they have much larger areas to deal with. I use a mold release, says so on the spray can.

I'll probably get some ribbing for this, but on the last rifle I bedded I used Chapstick for a release agent. Worked pretty well, too.

I have always used Brownells release agent, and it is all I have ever used. I always put on two coats although one will do. It is very easy to remove. You can either use a stiff M-16 brush, warm water, or my favorite, compressed air! The best thing about it, the release agent in the plastic bottles in the kits or shop kits lasts forever and you always have a lot left over. Even when I am using another brand of bedding (customers choice) I still use the Brownells product. It is also easy to see if you have missed any critical spots after drying! How's that for a product report?? Maybe somebody from Brownells will read this and give me a discount on my next order. Ken

I know you can spray down an envelope with Trich and read what's inside. It will evaporate nicely and not mess with the ink.

I've always used kiwi neutral shoe polish. Never an issue, easily found at local stores and cheap.

I generally use johnsons paste wax and dont even bother to remove it after I pull the rifle.
