Well This Years Hunt Although Hard up in Mercer-Northern Wisconsin due to amount of Snow, and Last Minute decision to even consider hunting.

Plenty Of Deer Moving around My Stand. But all Moving Waht I consider Late , from 8:00 a.m. until about 10:30 and From around 1:00 till About 4:00. Conditions were gppd considering the amount of Snow. 45 Plus Inchs. Passed on A Few Saturday.

Sunday things Turned to Shizz, Temps Warmed, Misty Rain, Fog, How-ever Deer Moving again Late, 8:00 a.m. on, locked on a Crazy Spiker for my hunting pard at 8:30 a.m. chasing a hot doe.

later same hot doe Came in again around 10:30,,then abpit 150 Yards accross clearing in front of my stand and dur to Fog i saw this big body deer lay down at edge of woods, and field, could hardly make out rack due to fog. Doe was still in back of my stand, 15 Minutes go by and deer still lying there , I decided to get down and put a stalk on it to get a better look,
took me 25 Minutes to go 70 some yards, i came with in 50 yards of deer, and the hot doe that was in back of my stand came between him and i, and he stood up.
Well the Old 303 Take down i have, which was used by the GRANITE CITY Police Dept back in the Late 20's was ready, 1 Shot using PPU Brass Loaded with 190 Grain Hawk Jacketed Bullet, Down he went.

Awesome Steve! Great story and great pics!

It's always a rush when you get to stalk a bit and get out of the stand.

Is that Granite City, Il that is marked on that rifle!?

I have several family members there.

What load did you use on that .303?

Congratulations. I'd say you had a very nice 2014 season.

Fine on GC PD Steve, very cool. I can imagine the response about the inquiry smile.

These days, we are just about too many generations removed to connect with any old school folks and thinkers, to tap into the 1920's.. but I bet most PD's had heavy rifles of some sort on their racks, especially in those days.

Thanks for the Hawk bullet tip, might check 'em out.

Well done buddy! What a toad! I just saw one very similar today,( a little more mass..looked very old) it was 80 yards away, walking determined.....not grazing..only bow was legal today. Snow is tight and crunchy. Saturday Muzzel opens. Hopeful.
Anyways WOW! great buck 4 you. What a hunt. Congrats!
