No Jerry, just really not a fan of Ruger at this point in my like. Wouldn't mind seeing the Model 7 if the barrel is longer than 21inches. powdr kerlanson hughes.net

I'd consider selling my Sako 85 SS, synthetic stock, Sako Medium Optilock bases & rings. The rifle metal is in exc cond, stock is very good cond with a small smudge or two. It shoots 1" groups with the 185 and 200 grain Federal loads.
I also have the following factory loaded ammo and some empty brass - 1.5 bx of Federal Eagle 185 soft points 1 full bx of Federal Premium 180 gr Nosler Accubond 1.5 bx Federal Fusion 200 grain
I'd have to get $950 for all

Guys I'm not spending $950 on a rifle and a few partial boxes of ammo. I don't care who has it or what make it is. I'm too old to be buying thousand $ rifles for what I'm going to use them for. powdr

Lightening on all manner of plains game in Africa a few years ago.

A cheap way into a .338 Federal is to snag one of the Walmart Remington 700s in either .243 or .308 and send it to JES reboring along with $225 and get it back rebored and rechambered to .338 Federal. It may be a few dollars more than $225 but it is close

Ed I'm not crazy about stainless. I have a RUGER in 358W that was made I believe in the early 80's. It's LNIB and I can't bring myself to hunt w/it and nobody seems to want to trade for a 338Federal. My definition of a truck gun is matte metal and synthetic stock w/something like a Burris or one of the new Redfields on top. powdr

Someone just had a good on a Tikka 338 fed here. 575 I think, synthetic and blue, right up your alley and you know it will be a shooter. Spence
Ps. The SAKO 85 is a good deal as stated above.

do what I did...wanted at 338 Federal and couldn't find one...so I started watching ebay...bought a custom 338 federal barrel threaded for a small shank savage. Bought a cheap 308 rifle and rebarreled it. Its a really great shooter. I see quite a few 338 Federal barrels showing up on ebay.
