I seriously considered it as well! Cool little rifle.

The 25-20, 25 WSSM, and 256 Win Mag are the only factory 25s I haven't messed with; I should have bought that little pump just to check one more off the list.

Though my interest in messing with a WSSM is on the same level as hitting myself in the junk with a ball peen hammer. So I probably won't be completing the 25 experimentation anytime soon.

For the OP it started and ended at the 100gr TTSX in my vangaurd

I had a 25 WSSM and foolishly sold it along with my dies and brass. Great cartridge, but I chose to keep the 25-284 instead....and recently foolishly sold it!

Better nip that business in the bud!

I've had good luck in 25-06 and 257 Roberts with the 100 gr Hoornady soft points and 100 gr TTSX. My preferred hunting load is the TTSX.

100gr partition

The 100 gr Hornady SP WAS always my favorite, but since Hornady has had them " temporarily suspended" for a year and a half now I've had to move on to other things.

Just loaded 50 100 grain Sierra flat base.. Will use them on a whitetail hunt next mth.. Hornady's also work well as do partitions.. The Sierra's have always been super accurate for me.

Shot several head of hogs with them too. Just don't expect an exit.

100 grain partition has worked well in a number of rifles. Have been impressed with the E-tip as well. My Montana loves the 80 grain TTSX....

I have yet to see a 25-06 that didn't shoot the 100 NBT well

100 grain GS Custom HV's are the cat's meow in my Roberts.

In antique lever action 25-20, I clamp a pistol scope to the barrel and shoot Sierra 75 gr hollow point 1600 [short bullet that can stabilize], 1.895" OAL [too long to feed, must be loaded single shot] with 12 gr LIL'GUN does 2350 fps. I have to keep the pressure down to 28kpsi or the primer will pierce with the sloppy firing pin to firing pin hole fit.
That shoots ~ 2.2 moa, which is good for an antique.

For modern big stuff, the 75 gr Vmax at 3500 fps can shoot in the .4s.

But for mule deer bucks, I like the Nosler 115 gr Ballistic tip at 3050 fps.

I haven't either...that said I've found that I can make a ballistic tip shoot well in just about anything. I also found that the 100 grain interlock and the 100 grain sierra flat base shot well in my 25-06.
