In a 338 edge or 338 lapua on game. I have been using 300 MK out of my edge but the numbers look good on the 285 at 2975 to 3000 fps. Wondering if anyone has tried them or has some first hand experience. If good expansion on game could be had it could be the way to go.

I'm shooting the 285 hp and I'm only getting 2690 out of my laupa. It is the savage 110 with a 26" barrel. I got a little more velocity but the best groups was with this load also the best velocity spread. I'm using h1000 but with another powder you may improve velocity

Was hoping to get 3000+ out of my edge. Do you think the 26" barrel handicaps velocity. I and getting 2870 fps with 300 gr MK with 89 grs of h1000 nosler brass and a 30" barrel was looking hard at the 285 but I fear as soon as I switch nosler will release a 285 LR AB and I will have to start all over. Retumbo might get you up some but if they shoot well stick with them have you had a chance to shoot any game with the 285 gr.

I load 92 grains of H-1000 behind the 300 SMK and get 2790 FPS in my 30" barrel.
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first
