Just picked up one of the above, can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Safari 11 and a regular Bar? Is it trim level i.e.. wood etc?

Thanks in advance

I purchased a Safari II new about 22 years ago, I believe it is simply an updated version of the older BAR design. What exactly the updates are I don't know. Mine has some engraving on the sides of the action and my brother's older 1970's manufacture has none. I don't think the "plain" version was available after the Safari II was released. I have seen the older BARs that were highly embellished with gold inlay and such.

If the Safari you just purchased has 2 cross bolts holding in the trigger group then the major difference is the trigger group on the II can be removed for cleaning and maintenance. The old Safari had a stock bolt thru the buttstock and it had to be removed in order to remove the trigger group which was dovetailed into the receiver. Their might have been other minor differences that I am not aware of . Congrats on buying the best semi-auto on the market.

Excellent stuff, thanks guy's. I take possession of the gun on Thursday, bought from the original owner who has put fifty rounds through it, comes with a Bushnell elite 3200 firefly reticle scope as well. Can't wait to take it to the range!
