Another nice one! I have a '95 SRC coming, not as classy as these .40-72s though.

Nice camp Kaywoodie! Yeah, if that'd been black and white I woulda expected to see Kermit in it. Maybe a buffalo head too!
Loggah. Nice display, I count 4 '95s. The SRC I have coming is .30 U.S., probably not as nice as your .30 Govt. Dont forget to post that 36" barreled '95 of your brothers someday. I wanna see that.

I got a 30 government [30-40] 1895 Win made in 1902 for $500 from a pawn shop last year. I got way more than a pound of dirt out of it when I took it apart. And I had a real puzzle getting back together. Now I know more about them, I realize someone shortened the barrel. I since bought a 257 Krag Ackley reamer and dies, and I might take it apart again. I have been collecting guns for 20 years, but for the last 3 years since my father died, I seem to be indiscriminately buying old Winchesters and Colts. I would not want to die without owning more Winchesters than I have now.

Clarkm, I've seen alot worse for much more than $500! Doesn't look to be rusted up bad, should make a decent shooter. Not to split hairs but .30 Gov't refers to .30-06 (or .30-03), .30 U.S. is the .30-40 Krag.

Nice Loggah! I have another .405 on the way too, but no where near as nice as your deluxe. It wears an old Jostam Anti-Flinch pad that I've heard could have been factory installed, but the LOP is 13 1/2" so I think it was added later. Does your pad have any markings? I'll probably replace it with a period correct repro because it's squashed.

I'd have to look up the letter, its either a silvers or jotsam and its solid with no cutouts. I remember it letters to 1905.

There is the gun, thanks for the picture. Here is the link to the 40-72 flatside that I looked at before I bought the one I got. The flatside just had too many issues. I am still pleased with the octagon that I got... http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=455527423

Shrapnel, The rifle you got is in great shape, i might have even have bid on that one you posted. My rifle is just an honest used rifle, not pretty but not cleaned up or beat up. I gave a friend of mine decent money for it ,because he was going thru a divorce !!! I'm kinda like Boltman i think you have a super lever gun collection and im not trying to steal your thread !!IM just a levergun nut !!!!

I don't blame you for passing on that one Shrapnel. I'll except a few faults to stay within my means, but a bulged barrel isn't one of them! You sure got a nice one though.
