I have a friend the inherited a collection of carved ivory pieces from her father. All were purchased abroad when he was working in Asia in the 70s. She does not have any receipts or other records of purchase.

She was looking into selling the collection, but it doesn't appear the there is any legal way for her to do so? Anyone have any experience selling older pieces like this? Is there any way to document that the pieces originated prior to the current trade bans? I am guessing none that are very cost effective?
