So, I learned a few things today. First off, I learned that my mini-van is awesome no matter what you truck driving Neanderthals say: I also learned that the pully system in the shop is awesome when you are alone with your deer and your mini-van: But, most importantly, I learned that knowing someone with land AND Llamas is good for deer hunting. Seriously, the llamas will kill coyotes like it is going out of style, so their land becomes a haven for all the deer, which means they can have people from work come over in their mini-vans...well, you get the picture. Long day, but the new CVA Optima V2 has been blooded, and that deer is skinned, quartered, and in a cooler on the deck.

By the way, the eagle globe and anchor will turn any rig into a rolling fortress of death. We're talking about the cathedral of frothy, bone chip fortified, charred, fleshy, blood geysers.. On wheels You can turn a Prius into a war machine with an eagle globe and anchor decal.

very nice Dave!
I pulled out my perm last night and speared a few today myself. Nothing big, but a couple for the pickle jar.
Cool spear too. Did you make it?

We usually just eat them raw, but I might try some of your ideas.

Don't know about Dave, but fresh cold water pike is very versatile fish for table fare. I fry, bake, boil, grill, pickle, can and smoke them. My pressure canned pike, bones and all, mixed with a little mayo and chopped pickle is far superior to canned tuna for sandwiches, or for just eating right from the jar on a cracker.

This is good cardio. make a hole like this. scoop out the slush. Put a red house like that one, on top the hole... Sit inside, look down the hole. the only light in the house, comes up through the hole. then you watch that g'damn decoy, for hours. you can yank that string and make it sort of fly in the water, it swims and twirls... and such. You stare down that damn ice window for hours....

I guess pickled pike is in the raw form. Good stuff for sure!! I'm just goof'n cabin D. We bake, we fry, we deep fry. You are spot on, can't go wrong with that crisp white dense flaky winter pike meat. I really like it. I have 2 to debone, going to get after that shortly. One for us and one will go to my mother, she really enjoys a good meal of northern pike.
