...I'm not ready for a progressive auto indexing set up yet, but am interested in feedback from expierenced reloaders on the quality of various turret press brands.

Redding T7

Another vote for the T7. It's the only turret press that Sinclair recommends, for what that's worth. I like mine......

T7's are made so precisely that when Steelhead and I once traded rifles and their dies, we didn't have to readjust the dies when we received them, because we both had T7's.

Redding also has a well-used T7 that Sierra sent them after the press loaded its millionth round. The T7 was still working perfectly, but Sierra thought Redding might like to have it.

Another vote for the Redding T7. I've had mine for about 9 years and it's worked flawlessly. Everything on it is robust and easy to maintain.

I also use the T7 and highly recommend it. I just wish I would have bought it sooner. I do need to get another one or two turret heads though.

I have the Lee Classic turret press, with four-hole plates. It turns out finished ammo at the rate of 100 rounds in 40 minutes, and it does all my different rifle and handgun rounds.

I too have the Lee Classic Turret and love it. I buy extra turrets and have my most frequently used calibers set up and ready to go without having to swap dies constantly.

I'd love to have a T-7, but I'm too Scotch to buy one until I wear out my Redding T-25 - afraid it's still got a long way to go!

I've wanted a T7 for a long time, but a few years back Cabelas had a sale on the Forster Coaxial so went that route. A T7 is still high on my list and I'll add one someday...

This plus 10....The joy of having all your dies set up and not having to be screwed in and out over and over again can't be overstated. f course, if you are only loading for a couple of different cartridges, this might not be that big of a deal to you.

I inherited an RCBS Turret. I was quite apprehensive when I first started using it, but have so far been quite satisfied. I am not sure if I were to buy a turret I would buy one over the T7, but it gets the job done.

Another vote for the T7, you won't regret it.

I think it's hard to appreciate how convenient a turret press is until you have one. I have a T-7 and love it.

A Dillon 550B IS a turret press. If you want to spend extra money, buy the BL550, then upgrade it to full progressive (which you will). David Tubb has used a 550 for over 20 years to load ammo that he hands everyone else their azz with.

A couple of tweaks from Uniquetek eliminate any possible OAL variations from movement of the Dillon toolhead.

I have a redding turret press and I would recommend it to anyone.

Quality? Nobody better quality than the T7 and I have one. I bought it mostly to leave Redding Instant Indicator gages setup while loading rifle cartridges and I might well gage in the Redding while loading in a CoAx.

On the other hand my most used turret is a Harrel's 4 position because I often have it clamped next to my monitor and can batch process something while I read something on line or load at the range or during field trips. Within its limits and perhaps subject to wear because the aluminum might well wear faster than the T7 - of course if the dies aren't swapped the threads wear slowly - the Harrell is good enough and worth consideration for short cartridges that respond well to the short handle throw.

I don't spin the turret to process a cartridge but batch process and as noted leave gages setup in the T7. If I were tempted to spin a turret I'd get the CH Pistol Champ H press in its current incarnation.

I kicked this idea around for quite a while myself, ended up with the Hornady Lock-N-Load. I can use it as a progressive and leave my dies set-up or I can use it as a single stage to do batch processing. I like to set up a universal de-cap or size die and run them through, I can just keep feeding and the processed cases kick out in a tub without having to handle them again. I have ended up doing more batch processing than straight progressive loading. It works good for me.
