For practice and target, if use the Missouri Bullets 225 Flathead over 5.2 grs. of HP-38 for 800 fps in a 5" 1911. For defense, I use the 230 gr XTP over a fairly stiff charge of HS-6 (9.0) grs. This is from the 45 ACP +P Hodgdon used to publish. Max in that data was 9.3 grs. of HS-6 with a 230. That being said, 98% of my 45 ACP shooting is with the 225 Cast load at 800 fps.

I cast up a bunch of 230gr LRN 97% lead, 1% tin, and 2% antimony, water dropped. For bowing pins I have two loads with these depending on if the pins are used and heavy or new and light. Light load-4.2 gr. tite group heavy load-4.6gr tite group

255 gr SWC over 5.2 gr of Unique
As an aside, I need to use 9 gr of Unique with the exact same bullet to get the same speed out of a revolver in .45 Colt.

I mostly shoot a 200 gr swc tl cranked out from a six shooter lee mold.
I load them over either 5 gr of Bullseye or 6g or Unique and both loads are very accurate.

230gr XTP, 7.2 gr Unique. 950 fps from my G21. Those the #45160 Hornady's? I just picked up a bunch of these if so and I also have plenty of Unique on hand as well. Yes. They have a little more shazam than most 45ACP, but Quickload puts pressure around 21K PSI, so it's really only on the border of +P pressure. In my G21 it runs fine with the factory spring, or with a Wolff 22-lb spring. I tried this load in my FNX last weekend, also with the Berry's 230 FMJs. Good stuff! Pistol has some thump to it now. Only thing I noticed with Unique that I didn't like, was that the powder doesn't seem to meter well.
